Vashon Clinic and Granny's Attic Area
The high ridge here, a former Nike missile site, boasts beautiful views of the Cascades, Olympics and Mt. Rainier.
Raptors soar over this open area moving from one part of the island to the other. The tall poplar trees along the entrance drive host Townsend's and Yellow-rumped Warblers during spring and fall migration.
The blackberry hedge on the southwestern side serves as good sparrow habitat in fall and winter with numerous crowned and Fox Sparrows.
To access the Vashon Clinic/Granny's Attic area at Sunrise Ridge, watch for their sign along the west side of Vashon Highway at 0.3 miles south of the four-way stop at the intersection of the highway with 204th.
