The marina contributes the best spot on the island for seeing Green Heron and American Coot.
In the fall, the herons hunt along the shoreline at low tide, roost in the maples by the yacht club and also stand on the boat lines seeking fish swimming beneath. The coots favor swimming around the pilings of the large dock. Scoters, goldeneye, scaup, Bufflehead and mergansers show up here as well as the three common grebe species.
The marina may be viewed from pull-offs along Vashon Highway on the north end of the Burton neighborhood.
